New host
Mar 5th
So due to some other reasons, I decided to try out my own host again. This, of course, has nothing to do with the services of Wordpress.com, but rather other external influences. Wordpress always had good reliable service for me.
With my own host I have a little more flexibility and things like that. But anyway, I am trying this out again, so hopefully all will work out well or I’ll be switching back!

I got the other website up and going again. I am using it to host code sources and other things like that which may be useful.
Currently in the forums I have mentioned doing a speedtest between PowerBasic and Purebasic, I have posted the timing results, and will post links to the sources soon.
New section in forums: programming.
Jan 9th
I added a new “programming” section to the forums. I figured this made sense, as it is what I do for a living, should help me keep things straight, and maybe I can provide some info for people looking for related material.
Although I do mostly…well…predominantly Windows programming, hopefully I can work in some linux coding as well.
Currently I just added these sections:
- General – what it sounds like
- BASIC – basic language, w/ subforums PowerBasic and PureBasic
- C
I use mostly PowerBasic these days at work, converting from old VB6. Things are always subject to change, though.

I’ve gotten back from vacation mentioned in the previous post…but I have STILL yet to even get on that computer I was working on.
We have been staying busy doing things around the house–stripping off wallpaper, painting, gettin tile, etc.
It is running currently as a single disk system, with a single disk RAId set up (but unused). I haven’t forgotten about it, or anything like that. I will probably finish this sometime this week, whenever I have time. Or make time.
What's the holdup? I blame Apple.
Aug 28th
So…I’m still using Arch. But really now there is a new roadblock to the distro-hopping adventure I was having….
dun dun DUNNNNN…. I got an iPhone. Well, not (entirely) by choice–work paid for it, and there are not really any Linux-based options available to us at the moment that are viable. So, I have an iPhone. It is neat and everything, but I really cannot stand how limiting Apple is with everything. For instance, iTunes is THE ONLY software that can be used to sync, copy music, etc anything on the iPhone (or iPods). This is crazy. #1 it is a pain More >
officially relocated (…again) — Now on Wordpress!
Aug 5th
We have officially moved to factorq.wordpress.com (and/or factorq.net — the domain is forwarded)
Forums have moved to fqnet.proboards.com
Please check the about page or the forums for any additional info concerning domains.
Hello World!
Aug 4th
Welcome to Wordpress.com.
I just imported everything from the Blogger factorq.net and copied it here to wordpress. I cannot use a top-level domain for free here as I could with Blogger, but I guess that’s the price I pay for using open source. …Or the price I don’t pay, whatever. I can move here and just point the domains to factorq.wordpress.com. Then if traffic picks up enough (doubtful) I could always pay the $10 a year to host the domain here. haha! steep, huh?
Well…crap. My Open Source Quandry
Aug 4th
I thought I was all good…until I was reading this (Adventures in Open Source):
It occurred to me that as 2009 rolled around I shouldn’t be blogging about open source on a closed platform like Blogger any more, it was a bit of a contradiction. So I upped sticks and moved to Wordpress on my own server.
Now I am in the same situation (here on Blogger), and have to decide if I care enough about not being on an open source blogging platform (ie WordPress).
It is indeed a bit hypocritical to be an open source enthusiast on a closed More >
"Old" fQ back up…sort of
Jun 16th
I got my web host to get everything back together. I set up the domains and whatnot and now it’s back going again. I say “old” because it is really not all that old. Except for the “archive” part.
These URLs point to “Old” fQ:old.factorq.netoldfq.co.ccoldfactorq.co.cc (not yet active)itsatravesty.com (only active through sometime in August)itsatravesty.co.cc
These URLs still point to this (the main site):factorq.netfactorq.co.cc
This will be kind of up and down until I get everything stabilized completely.
Be sure to take note of the poll ———–>and give feedback in the forums, and you know, here as well.

More >Some more info about the site crash
Jun 14th
So, apparently there is a backup of the website. However the (free) webhost has to re-create my account and set everything back up.
I really can’t complain, I mean…it is a FREE host. However, lately the outages have been really common, and then now this complete deletion of my account. pretty crazy.
I think that I will stick with this (blogger), being it is still free, and the uptime is MUCH better. Also, since I’m not really doing a lot of custom type design or site layout type of stuff, it doesn’t really matter. I don’t need a custom host to do the types of More >
